About Emerald City Opera and the 2013 Opera Artist Institute:
Emerald City Opera (ECO) completed its tenth season in 2012 with presentations of a full production of Le nozze di Figaro and a symphonic-vocal concert utilizing renowned opera professionals while concurrently facilitating its fifth year of the Opera Artist Institute for Emerging Singers. For 2013, ECO’s Artist Institute will focus more on individual coaching opportunities rather than a fully-staged production. The ten-day Vocal Intensive will contain arias and scenes performances, as well as a symphony concert including singers from both the Institute’s participants and professional faculty. Daily coachings, numerous Master classes and Recital-Lectures by faculty members will round out the activities. The Institute begins with dinner on Wednesday, August 7th and ends after the performance on Saturday, August 17th with departure on Sunday, August 18th.
ECO’s Opera Artist Institute plays a vital role in the life of the company, giving emerging artists a wide range of opportunities to learn and perform in a fast paced and supportive environment. In 2009, Emerald City Opera expanded the Institute to offer opportunities to student directors, conductors and pianist-coaches, as well as singers.
